In the User’s interest, in the event that further investigations through additional examinations (immunohistochemical and/or hybridization ones) prove necessary, it is as of rule preferable that the material be escorted by a regional referral requesting a histological and/or cytological examination and indicating the need for a possible immunohistochemical and/or hybridization examination.
It is possible to carry out the examinations, not only within the ambit of the National Health Care System (health ticket), but also on the basis of a “paying non-patient tariff” (which might be provided simply by submitting the application for carrying out the examination on the part of the Specialist on a “blank recipe”); in that event, the whole cost of the examinations applied for shall have to be borne by the patient.
The performances, grouped by type and cost, are all listed in the regional tariff document, to which reference should be made for more specific details.
The performances might also be carried out by independent practitioners outside normal working hours.
With regard to the performances rendered by independent practitioners, the tariffs, the modalities and the time frames for conducting examinations are available from the Service’s secretary office.

The reports are handed at the Secretary Office of the Anatomical Pathology Service:
• Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm
• Saturday from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm.
In compliance with the law on privacy, the reports are handed in a sealed envelope by the secretarial staff only to the interested party or his deputy, upon submission of the “application form/receipt” which had been handed at the time of accepting the examination and which sets out the information pertaining to the date and place of collection.
Alternatively, in the event of loss or destruction of the application form, the report might be collected:
– by the owner of the report upon submission of an identity document
– by a person other than the owner, equipped with own identification document, power of attorney, and a photocopy of the identity document of the person who has undergone the examination.
In compliance with the law on privacy, no information pertaining to the examination results might be provided over the phone.
The Medical Staff is available to meet the eligible persons, pursuant to prior telephone booking with the Service.
At the patient’s request, the reports might be sent to his home address, whereupon the patient, at the time of handing the examination, shall have to fill out a form setting out his own address, which is going to be used for the postal delivery, and pay the sum of 1 Euro to cover the costs of such a service.
