RECTAL-BOWEL DISEASES CENTER AND PROCTOLOGY

CHRONIC INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASES (IBD UNIT)

For the chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, the Center involves a multidisciplinary team (IBD Unit) composed by gastroenterologists, endoscopists, radiologists, pathologists-anatomists and surgeons. For the treatment of related diseases, the team collaborates with hepatologists, rheumatologists, dermatologists and ophthalmologists. The aim is providing the patient a complete and “custom-made” programme of diagnosis and care. Beside clinical activities, the Center is one of the few in Italy equipped with dedicated psychologist, sign of particular attention we pay to the psycho-physical wellbeing of our patients.
Moreover there is a particular sensitivity to nutritional and dietary aspects thanks to the support of dedicated dietician and gastroenterologist.

The most traditional therapies as mesalazine, cortisone, the immunosuppressors (e.g. azathioprine/ 6-mercaptopurine), some antibiotics acting on bacteria of digestive tract, and innovative therapies with new generation biological drugs are prescribed.

The Center collaborates strictly and daily with the Department of General Surgery, directed by Dr Giacomo Ruffo. High volumes of high-specialized surgeries for chronic inflammatory bowel diseases are carried out, also with laparoscopic approach and protocols for the postoperative management, optimizing the recovery after surgery and resumption of daily activities. In the postoperative phase, the Center involves specialized nurses for managing the stomia, for patients who need it. Furthermore there is a joint gastroenterologic-surgical outpatient clinic to assess the patients affected by Ileal Pouch-Anal Anastomosis (IPAA) for the follow-up.

Beside the clinical activities, the Center fosters numerous scientific research projects and collaborates with the major international reference Centers.

PROCTOLOGY

Il Centro fa parte della Società Italiana di Chirurgia Colo-Rettale come UCP-Unità di Colon-Proctologia “Verona 2” e comprende vari specialisti per la diagnosi e la cura delle affezioni di tutto il distretto intestinale e pelvico: chirurghi, gastroenterologi, endoscopisti, radiologi, ginecologi, urologi, neurologi e fisiatri. Nel nostro Centro i pazienti possono eseguire test specialistici mirati alla diagnosi della patologia del colon, retto ed ano per il raggiungimento di diagnosi accurate e precise per garantire l’efficacia della cura:

  • Visita specialistica proctologica e rettoscopia
  • Manometria anorettale clinica e manometria anorettale ad alta risoluzione
  • Ecografia transanale a 360°con sonda dedicata
  • Anoscopia ad alta risoluzione

 

Trattamenti chirurgici mini-invasivi delle patologie anorettali

  • Emorroidi (trattamenti con THD- Ligasure- Emorroidopessi -Laser)
  • Ragade acuta e cronica
  • Disturbi della evacuazione: rettocele, prolasso rettale, intussuscezione retto-anale (intervento di STARR)
  • Incontinenza anale (ricostruzione sfinteriale con  Gate Keeper e uso di presidi volumizzanti
  • Ascessi anali e fistole complesse (laser – VAAFT)
  • Malattia pilonidale e malattia pilonidale fistolizzata (trattamento in aperto ed endoscopico EPSIT
  • Valutazione, trattamento e follow-up della malattia HPV correlata

In caso di patologia proctologica minore viene programmato l’intervento in day-surgery, oppure se il quadro riguarda patologie chirurgiche maggiori, sarà organizzato dal Centro un ricovero ordinario; mentre ai pazienti suscettibili di terapia fisiatrica si attueranno cicli di riabilitazione colon-proctologica
