ENDOCRINE SURGERY ACTIVITY

The Endocrine Surgery Unit deals with surgical diseases related to:

  • thyroid,
  • parathyroid,
  • adrenal gland
  • pancreatic endocrine neoplasms
  • gastrointestinal system endocrine neoplasms

For all these disorders a preliminary study phase is essential, carried out by biochemical and instrumental tests, as well as functional tests, carried out in parallel or in order of increasing importance.

The diagnostic assessment of these diseases is made in collaboration with endocrinologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, pathologists-anatomists and oncologists with whom the indication to surgical treatment and any additional complementary therapies are discussed and formulated.

The operations performed for these diseases use traditional procedures, but also – in selected cases – minimally invasive and video-assisted procedures.
