ACTIVITY

The activity takes place daily in two operating rooms, located in the multi-specialized surgical unit communicating with Intensive Care Unit (Third floor – Ospedale Sacro Cuore building). The rooms are equipped with the most modern equipment for traditional and laparoscopic surgery. This last is the most used procedure in abdominal pathology featuring optimization of surgical gesture quality, minimizing impact on patient. Also the surgery robot “Vinci XI” is used. PRE-ADMISSION AND INFORMED CONSENT

To optimize stay times, in most cases, the diagnostic tests of surgical diseases and preparatory services to operation are carried out before admission. All based on plan prepared by specialist who prescribes the test or series of test most suitable to single case. As part of this Service (active from Monday to Friday 9.00am-3.00pm) a team of dedicated physicians and nurses operates.

The pre-admission tests are carried out in a single day at the first floor of Hospital’s new entrance building, access from viale Rizzardi, according to a program delivered to patient by ward secretary.

Once preoperatory tests are completed, proposing surgical operation, the patient will be informed about benefits and potential risks of suggested procedure. The “informed consent” will be delivered, a necessary document to be operated, the patient must read and understand it in order to discuss content with physician who will perform pre-admission procedures.

Signing this document, the patient will express his/her consent to undergo operation.
