Visiting hours to patients

Ongoing save from 9.00am to 11.00am, during the physicians’ ward round
Since March2020, due to COVID19 pandemic, the examinations to patients were forbidden, except for special care needs.

Interviews with physicians and relatives

The interviews with patients’ relatives take place at the end of morning round or by relatives appointment with physicians.

Beds

The department consists of 16 ordinary beds. The patients are followed by two cancer physicians and nurse staff.

Furthermore a relaxation and hospitality area is available, complete with meal service. It includes: a living room for conversation; a corner to buy drink, coffee, snacks/sandwiches; an area to listen to music; an area for TV and video recorder; a reading corner with a library provided with books on loan.

Activity

The clinical activity provides for the diagnosis, management of oncologic complications and administration of systemic anti-cancer therapies which for duration and/or acute toxicity require a careful monitoring of patient. Some beds are intended to palliative treatments. The planned admissions are carried out on physician’s request and according to the clinical needs of patients. Moreover the urgent admissions are carried out on physician’s request and Emergency Department request.

Since March 2020, due to COVID19 pandemic, the cancer patients are admitted after negative SARS-COV-2 nasal-or-pharyngeal swab.
