The bariatric surgery treats the obesity, when diet and physical activity, accompanied by psychological and pharmacological support, don’t reach the goal of weight loss. The surgical solution, indeed, can lead to significant weight loss, keeping in time or for the rest of life. The loss of excess weight also leads to a marked improvement of diseases related to obesity as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and sleep disorders as sleep apneas in turn risk factors of other diseases. The obesity is even one of major risk factors for cancer diseases.

Due to pathology complexity, so that surgery is effective, for some years at the Hospital there is a multidisciplinary team for treatment of obesity, composed of bariatric surgeons, gastroenterologists, psychologists and nutrition experts.
