ACTIVITY
The Gynecology Unit deals with the medical and surgical management of gynecological benign (endometriosis, fibroma, polyp, uterine prolapse, urinary incontinence, metrorrhagia, preneoplastic lesions of cervix, condylomatosis, uterine malformations, sterility, genital infections, pelvic inflammatory disease) and malignant pathologies. The latter concern to the Gynecological Oncology Module dealing with the diagnosis, surgical treatment and follow-up programmes of the gynecological apparatus neoplasms.
The healthcare activity is carried out within the inpatient ward, outpatient clinics and Day Hospital. The three areas are coordinated in order to accompany the patient along the pathway within the facility: diagnosis (outpatient clinic and Day Hospital), surgical treatment (ward and operating room), follow up (postoperative clinic).
The diagnostics (also in collaboration with other specialties) uses sophisticated equipment (ultrasonography, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, urodynamics assessment). The surgical treatment uses the most currently modern procedures and equipments.
In the surgical treatment of Severe Endometriosis and major Surgical Oncology the gynecological team interplays with other teams (general and reconstructive, vascular, plastic and urologic surgery) in order to ensure a multidisciplinary integrated approach to the treatment of patient.
