ABOUT US

The Urology Unit includes three areas:

• Ward
• Outpatient clinics (Urology Service)
• Urodynamics

The Urology Ward and Day Hospital, certified UNI EN ISO 9001, are located at the third floor of Sacro Cuore Don Calabria entrance B-C. The ward has 24 ordinary and Day Hospital beds.

All inpatient rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, private toilet, Wi-Fi, television. It is possible to enjoy single stay rooms upon request, depending on availability, for which a daily fee is charged (click here for rates). The ward has, within multi-specialist surgical unit, 2 operating rooms working from Monday to Friday for scheduled surgeries and provided with the most modern equipment for traditional, laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

The Robot Da Vinci XI has been recently acquired, latest evolution of robotic technology allowing a high quality of treatment and reduced invasiveness.

EXAMINATION BOOKING

The outpatient urologic examinations performed under the Italian Healthcare System, with authorization and payment of ticket, are booked at the Outpatient Clinics (“Poliambulatori”).

The urgent urologic examination takes place by the Emergency Department of Sacro Cuore Hospital, where the emergency physician, after assessment of clinical case actual urgency, will send the patient to the ward for consultation.

The urologic examinations under private practice “intramoenia” (within the Hospital) on payment, are booked at the Outpatient Clinics (“Poliambulatori”).

ADMISSION BOOKING

The booking of ordinary admission is made only by the ward physician, during the outpatient examination. Successively the patient is included in a computerized waiting list that meets clinical priority criteria. When it’s his/her turn, the patient is informed, by phone or email, about the date of admission and how to enter our Unit.
The admission by Emergency Department takes place for urgent urologic pathologies. In this case, once entered into Emergency, the patient can be visited by the urologist who will decide the possible admission.

INFORMATION ON ADMISSION

In order to optimize the stay times, the preoperative tests are performed before the admission. The date of these tests is communicated during the admission booking. Please remember that minors must be accompanied by a parent.

For all sugeries day care by a person designated by the patient is permitted; the person must comply with the personnel instructions and must in any case leave the room and ward within 9.00pm. The visits to patients may be carried out complying with the following visiting hours:
Weekdays: 6.00pm-8.30pm
Holidays: 3.30pm-8.30pm

In case of major surgeries or particular cases the family member can ask the staff to provide night-time care to the patient.
