THE FACILITY

The Service is structured in two endoscopic rooms equipped with the most modern equipment and technologies available. Furthermore it is completely computerized with devices able to create independently live events (courses, congresses, etc) and broadcast them both via videoconference and streaming on the web. The two rooms are open and working from Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm with the service of Endoscopic Availability H/24.

Dr Paolo Bocus is enabled by the European Radio-Frequency Academy to carry out treatments of ablation with radiofrequency of esophagus lesions in an early stage  (Barrett’s esophagus).

The Echoendoscopy Center is seat of echoendoscopy continuous training for physicians and nurses. Since 2018 the Center achieved the Professional Accreditation of SIED-ANOTE (Italian Digestive Endoscopy Society and Italian Endoscopic Procedures Technicians Association). The accreditation means to be registered in the Italian gastroenterological field among the organizations accredited and recognized by the SIED.

  • With authorization of general practitioner (GP) or specialist. On the authorization the following data must be reported:
    44.19.3 ESOPHAGOGASTRODUODENAL ECHOENDOSCOPY.
    45.29.5 COLON ECHOENDOSCOPY
    48.29.2 SIGMOID RECTUM ECHOENDOSCOPY.
    HI 52.13 BILIOPANCREATIC ECHOENDOSCOPY
  • The physicians of the Echoendoscopy Service carry out private practice “intramoenia” (within the Hospital) (examinations, test viewing for diagnostic activity, endoscopic tests). For information and appointments please contact the Service secretariat.
PREPARATION FOR THE ECHOENDOSCOPIC TEST
  • Echoendoscopy esophagus, stomach, duodenum: if the appointment is scheduled in the morning it is necessary to show up fasting from midnight. If the appointment is scheduled in the afternoon (after 2.00pm) is possible to have a light breakfast (tea with biscuits) and then fast until the time of test.
  • Echoendoscopy sigmoid rectum: if the appointment is scheduled in the morning the preparation must be carried out in the following way: in early morning (about 7.30am) a first enema must be done, a second one an hour later. If the appointment is scheduled in the afternoon (after 2.00pm) the preparation must be carried out in the following way: in the late morning (about 12.00pm) a first enema must be done, a second one an hour later. Show up fasting for at least 6 hours.

What to bring

  • Health insurance card
  • Treating physician’s authorization with the test to carry out and prescription of conscious sedation
  • Informed consent fully filled in
INFORMED CONSENT
  • Results of laboratory tests carried out in other facility.
  • Any recent letter of discharge, medical reports of specialized examinations and instrumental tests carried out in other facility.

What is needed to undergo safely

  • Inform the endoscopist of any allergies and/or cardiorespiratory or other pathologies
  • Inform of suspected or confirmed pregnancy
  • Inform the staff of presence of defibrillator or prosthetic heart valves (in this case is necessary to carry out an antibiotic prophylaxis).
  • The blood donors, after the test, will be temporarily suspended from donating for 4 months.

What to do in case of sedation

In case of sedation, in the following 24 hours it is counterindicated to drive any type of vehicle and carry out activities requiring quick reflexes. It is therefore essential to arrive at the service accompanied. Otherwise the sedation won’t be possible or the test will be necessarily postponed to the first available date.

PICK UP OF MEDICAL REPORTS

Il referto endoscopico viene  scritto e stampato dal medico al termine della procedura e consegnato direttamente all’interessato presso la segreteria del Servizio il giorno dell’esame. Nel caso si sia reso necessario effettuare prelievi di tessuto mucoso (esame istologico) sarà necessario effettuare contemporaneamente il pagamento del ticket relativo all’esame istologico. Il referto istologico può essere scaricato dal dossier sanitario o spedito direttamente al proprio domicilio o, in alternativa, ritirato presso la segreteria del Servizio presentando l’apposito tagliando consegnato al paziente con il referto endoscopico.
