ABOUT US

The facility of Interventional Hepatology deals with diagnostics and therapy of liver primary (hepatocarcinoma) in collaboration with multidisciplinary team composed by surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, interventional radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians. The facility includes a clinic dedicated to patients with hepatic cirrhosis, hepatocarcinoma and patients underwent liver transplantation. The Center is part of Italian National Register for hepatocarcinoma (ITA.LI.CA – Italian Liver Cancer).

ACTIVITY

The facility carries out the following procedures:

  • needle agoaspiration and diagnostic hepatic biopsy needles under ultrasound guidance
  • hepatic elastometry with shear wave procedure
  • percutaneous local-regional treatments: percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) and thermal ablations (RFTA – Radio-frequency Thermal Ablation/ microwaves)
  • intra-arterial treatments: chemoembolization (TACE – TransArterial ChemoEmbolization), radioembolization with Yttrium-90 (TARE – TranArterial RadioEmbolization)
  • assessment for surgical treatments
  • assessment and work up for liver transplantation (in collaboration with the Liver Transplantation Center of Verona)
