ENDOSCOPIC TEST DAY

What to bring:
  • Health insurance card
  • Treating physician’s authorization with test to perform and any prescription of conscious sedation
  • Informed consent form filled out
  • Results of any laboratory tests recently performed elsewhere
  • Any recent letters of discharge, medical reports of specialized examinations and instrumental tests performed elsewhere
  • In case of colonoscopy bring a pair of socks and a t-shirt
What to do to undergo safely:
  • Inform the endoscopist of any allergies and/or cardiorespiratory or other pathologies;
  • Inform of suspected or confirmed pregnancy;
  • In case of colonoscopy finish the preparation always according to the instructions: indeed a clean intestine is required to carry out correctly the test without having viewing limits. The quantity of liquids to drink must never be self-restricted. In case of difficult intake of recommended liquids, contact the family physician.
What to do in case of sedation

In the following 24 hours it is counterindicated to drive any type of vehicle and perform activities requiring quick reflexes. It is necessary to go to the Hospital accompanied. Otherwise the sedation won’t be performed or will be necessary to delay the test to the first available date. The blood donors, after the test,  will be temporarily suspended from (blood) donating for 4 months.
